What does a HCS Provider do?

The Texas Home and Community-Based  Services (HCS) program provides support to people with intellectual and  developmental disabilities so they can live in their own homes or other  community settings instead of institutions. These services are  facilitated by a licensed Texas HCS provider who contracts with HHSC  to deliver services.

HCS Providers will deliver services and support designed to promote health and safety and independence, and  community integration for people with intellectual and developmental  disabilities. These services are based on each individual’s needs and  preferences and their Individual Plan of Care (IPC).

The type and amount of services that an HCS provider delivers can vary greatly from individual to individual but may include the following services

Tips

Three Top Tips for Waiver Lists

  1. Don’t Delay, Add Your Child Right Away: Consider adding your child  to as many waiver interest lists as possible when your child is first  diagnosed with a disability or special health care needs. You should  also think about adding your child to the lists even if they aren’t  diagnosed but you have reason to believe that your child will have a  long-term disability or special health care needs.
  2. Learn More: If you are interested in HCS, call 1-855-937-2372 to speak to a trained professional.
  3. Update Your Information Every Year: At least 1 time a year, call to  update your contact information so they know how to reach you. Most  parents remember by calling around their child’s birthday.
